Commercialized a patented 24-bit
color technology for the Macintosh and PC computers. Was a member of a 4-person founding
team that raised more than $5 million in venture capital, built a
300 person, $100 million a year business in 3 years, with a
successful initial public offering.
Identified, licensed and
commercialized environmental energy efficient technologies
developed in England, Holland and Switzerland.
Co-founded business and raised venture capital money for the
commercialization and manufacture of these energy efficient products
in the USA and sold these products in more than 40 different states.
Fortune magazine called this 100 person company one of the most
innovative businesses in California.
Provided expert witness and litigation support
for major law firms for more than 25 cases involving licensing,
technology, patents and product commercialization. These cases involved
commercialization and development best practices, breach of contract
licensing disputes, copyright, trademark and trade secret matters.
Directed the business valuation and corporate patent investment
in a portfolio of a 100 patents in the environmental science air and
water purification area on a global basis. I reviewed new patent
applications for filing and reviewed current applications for
additional country filings and maintenance including valuation of
royalty fees.
Identified a patented water
purification process
developed by 2 professors from New York University. Negotiated the
licensing agreement, assisted in the design and construction of a
multi-million dollar proof of concept demonstration plant at Lake
Tahoe, California and directed the
launch of the process in the water purification market.
Identified a patented water
purification process
developed in Windhoek, South Africa and directed the
commercialization of the technology in the USA.
Developed, performed the design and
implementation of proof of concept demonstration, co-patented and
commercialized a technology for efficient separation of metal oxides
through centrifugation and separation by curvilinear plates after
conversion of calcium carbonate to calcium oxide.
Founded
and chaired the first committee at University of Missouri Kansas
City to commercialize
technology developed from public grants by university faculty.
Several businesses were developed through this activity and UMKC
holds equity interests in these businesses as a part of the
commercialization process.
Identified and negotiated the
signing and implementing of more than 20 worldwide license agreements
for technology, computers or software and made
recommendations on more than 50 other license agreements.
Directed the negotiation, signing and implementation of
more than a dozen environmental science technology licenses,
including license extensions, with major companies including
Imperial Chemical Corporation (UK), Von Roll (Switzerland), Landustrie Sneek (Holland) and other licenses with companies in
France, Germany and Italy.
Responsible for negotiating, signing and implementing software
technology licenses with Block Financial Corporation, PeachTree,
Inc., Intuit Corporation, Expert Software, Inc. ClickAction, Inc.,
Mucho.Com Corporation, Fatbrain.com,Inc., Mycities.com, Inc. and
BizProLink.com.
Responsible
for reviewing and making recommendations on many technology licenses
including agreements with Microsoft Corporation, Software Publishing
Corporation, Osborne Computer, Inc. and Science Application
International Corporation |
